UP-GRADATION AS ACADEMY

Keeping in view the importance of Capacity Building both of the Govt. Functionaries and elected representatives of different Local Govts under “Devolution Plan 2000”, the status of the Local Government Training Institute (LGTI) Lalamusa was upgraded to the level of Academy during 2001-2002.

A scheme regarding renovation of the whole building and provision of the allied facilities approved which is under execution. The posts of senior faculty members also sanctioned which enabled this institution to undertake various capacity building courses of union administration and Tehsil Municipal Administration. Following courses were conducted under devolution plan and others.

1. Training of 351 Trainers and 72368 Union Councillors under Phase - I (May - June, 2001)
2. Training of 29 Master Trainers & 145 Trainers for Training of Zila/Tehsil Councillors under Phase - II (March & Nov, 2002)
3. Training of 116 Trainers and all Secretaries Union Councils-Crash Program. (May 2003)
4. Training of 415 Secretaries U.Cs in 14 one week in-campus regular courses (2001-2003)
5. Training of 701 Secretaries U.Cs in 22 two weeks in-campus regular courses (2003-2005)
6. Training of 243 Secretaries U.Cs in 10 two weeks in-campus courses of CIDA Project. (2004-2006)
7. Training of 118 Newly recruited TMOs/TOs (R), TOs (F) & TO s (P&C) in 3one week Orientation Courses (Jan, Feb 2006)
8. Conduct of 5 TNA Workshops of TMOs & TO s for Capacity Building of TMAs in Collaboration with CIDA (Jan-April 2006)
9. Training of 263 Head Teachers, 3538 Teachers, 546 Councillors and6775 members of School councils under SSHE Program in Collaboration with UNICEF Punjab. (2002-2005)
