Punjab Local Govt. Academy (PLGA), being the only institute of local government in the province has been given the responsibility to fulfill these requirements of District, Tehsil and Union level Local Governments.
Pre-service/ In-service/ Professional/ Special training courses/ workshops/ seminars/ orientations courses to the following functionaries of Local Government Department and Local Council Service Punjab, under Devolution Plan are the statutory objectives of this Academy.

AIM & OBJECTIVES
Over all aims and objectives include

  • Capacity building of newly elected established local governments i.e. District Governments, TMAs and Union Administrations in the Punjab.
  • Training of Councillors and Nazims of various tiers of Local Governments.
  • Organizing conferences and seminars on Local Government and related subjects.
  • Undertaking research in the field of Local Government and allied subjects independently or in collaboration with other research institutions and universities.
  • Liason with regional and international agencies like UNICEF, CIDA, JICA etc to facilitate them for their country program in the field of capacity building.
